Rakuten releases Japanese LLM developed under GENIAC programme

Rakuten Group has released a new large language model, Rakuten AI 3.0, developed as part of Japan’s Generative AI Accelerator Challenge (GENIAC) programme supported by ministry of economy, trade and industry and New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO). The company said the model is designed to support companies and developers building AI applications in Japanese. Rakuten AI 3.0 is available under the Apache 2.0 open-source licence through the company’s Hugging Face repository.
