Japan: Remote-work housing platform Anyplace has expanded into Japan with the launch of furnished apartments designed for remote professionals in Tokyo.

The San Francisco-based company said its first Japan location has opened at Ebisu Garden Place in partnership with Sapporo Real Estate Development.

The apartments are located in the Ebisu Garden Terrace Nibankan residential tower in the Ebisu district of Shibuya.

Anyplace said the project is aimed at international remote professionals, including software engineers, startup founders, digital nomads and long-term business travellers.

The units are available for stays of at least 30 days and include high-speed Wi-Fi, an ultrawide monitor, ergonomic office chair and height-adjustable desk, alongside fully furnished living spaces.

The company said the launch responds to growing demand for flexible housing as remote and hybrid working models become more common globally.

While Tokyo continues to attract international professionals, housing options designed specifically for remote workers remain limited, according to Anyplace.

Under the partnership, Sapporo Real Estate Development leases residential units within Ebisu Garden Place to Anyplace, which furnishes and operates them as work-ready furnished monthly apartments.

Steve Satoru Naito, founder of Anyplace, said the launch represents a milestone for the company’s international expansion. “Japan offers world-class residential quality, yet work-ready housing for global professionals remains scarce,” he said.

Anyplace operates furnished apartments in several US cities, including San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City.
