    Glad you are enjoying Japan! The yen is still so weak, you were probably able to do this entire trip on 10 Singapore dollars! haha
    When the rest of the country is mostly a dead, ugly brown, Kawazu's cherry blossom festival is such a nice getaway to a flowery world of pink and yellow! On a sunny day, it's so refreshing!

    The Somei-yoshino cherry blossoms that are the signature blossoms that define the "cherry blossom season" are indeed mostly white with just a hint of pink. It does surprise many visitors who expect vibrant pink blossoms. There are many varieties in addition to Kawazu and Somei-yoshino. Yaezakura which bloom later are also deep pink. Okinawa's Kanhi blossoms bloom earlier than Kawazu and are also deep pink. I thought there might be some in Singapore somewhere, but Google tells me they cannot grow in Singapore except in the Dome at Gardens By the Bay. lol

    I hope this year's cherry blossom season will time well for my days off and that the weather will be sunny. It's always such a gamble!
