Kyoto Travel Guide πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅

Kyoto completely surprised us. From walking through thousands of red torii gates to wearing traditional kimonos in historic streets, this city delivers one unforgettable experience after another.

In this Kyoto travel guide, we explore some of the experiences that made us fall in love with the city. We start the morning in Gion at sunrise, wandering Kyoto’s historic streets in kimono before heading to one of Japan’s most famous shrines, Fushimi Inari Taisha, known for its thousands of vibrant torii gates winding through the mountains.

We also visit the stunning Golden Temple Kinkaku-ji, explore peaceful forest shrines hidden within the city, take part in a ramen cooking class to learn how to make one of Japan’s most iconic dishes, and experience the immersive digital art at teamLab Botanical Garden Kyoto.

Just outside Kyoto, we also take a day trip to Nara, where hundreds of deer roam freely through the city and ancient temples tower over the park.

To end the adventure, we experience one of the most unique dinners in Kyoto an incredible multi-course meal inside a futuristic train restaurant.

If you’re planning a trip to Japan, Kyoto should absolutely be on your itinerary. This city blends ancient tradition with unforgettable modern experiences.

We also created multiple videos in Nara, including a full Nara food tour and a things to do guide, so be sure to check those out if you’re planning a visit!
