Falcom recently announced that they’re bringing Kyoto Xanadu to the Switch and Switch 2 sometime in Summer 2026. Set in an alternate reality where Kyoto is the capital of Japan, Kyoto Xanadu players take on monsters and mysteries coming from the great labyrinth known as Xanadu. As a student, players will challenge the labyrinth and grow through their battles within Xanadu while also deepening bonds with various people during your daily life.

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu included a rather lengthy chat with Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo, and he dropped a couple more details on Kyoto Xanadu. According to Kondo, the shift to 2D action in Kyoto Xanadu received both positive and negative reactions. With that in mind, Kondo wants to assure players that the game is a fun experience.

A few other tidbits were shared, including the fact that Kyoto Xanadu will offer four difficulty options, and that Kyoto was chosen as the city in order to best represent Japan. There’s sure to be more information shared on Kyoto Xanadu in the near future, and we’ll make sure to bring you everything that pops up.
