Japan’s Island with 20+ Volcanoes 🌋🇯🇵

We spent almost 3 weeks exploring Kyushu, Japan’s third largest island. It might be one of the most underrated places in the country.

Kyushu has more than 20 volcanoes and in places like Beppu you can see natural steam rising straight out of the streets from the island’s famous hot springs.

Thanks to its southern location, Kyushu is also home to Yakushima, a sub-tropical rainforest island covered in moss and ancient cedar trees over 1,000 years old. The forests here even inspired the setting for Princess Mononoke.

It is also a dream for food lovers, from tonkotsu ramen in Fukuoka to Kagoshima black pork, fresh seafood and some of Japan’s best strawberries.
