Nihon Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo shared new details about several of the studio’s projects during a recent interview in Weekly Famitsu, published as part of the company’s 45th anniversary.
One notable update concerns Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, where Kondo confirmed that recording for the game’s theme song, “Silver Will, Golden Wings,” has already been completed.
Kondo also commented on Kyoto Xanadu, which recently revealed its shift to a 2D action style. According to him, the change has received mixed reactions from fans, but he emphasized that the game remains fun to play. The title will feature four difficulty settings.
The interview also briefly touched on the Ys series. Kondo confirmed that development on a new entry has recently begun. He added that the protagonist, Adol Christin, may appear older than he has in previous installments.
Looking further ahead, Kondo outlined Falcom’s long-term plans for Trails. The company aims to announce the final entry in the series during its 50th anniversary in 2031, with the goal of completing the saga in 2032, Falcom’s 51st year.
Kondo said the plot for the unofficially revealed The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon II is already finished, and the series’ overall ending has been decided. Falcom even has a rough idea of the final protagonist’s profession.
