Kiyomizu Temple, resplendent surrounded by autumn’s red foliage on the trees, hosted the New7Wonders World Tour for a truly moving celebration, which included a Seiryu-e (blue dragon rite) and drum concert. The official certificate of candidacy was handed to the Chief Abbott of the temple, Mr. Seihan Mori.
Kiyomizu Temple is a monumentclose to nature. The only New7Wonders finalist made only of wood, without even metal nails, screws or bolts, it is also the only monument that is an active house of worship. As the Kyoto Accords stand for the global community trying to work together to preserve our planet, it is particularly fitting that Kiyomizu Temple, dedicated to “pure water,” be one of the New7Wonders finalists with a very strong connection to the natural world.
