We visit one of Japan’s hidden gems and wonder around the beauty of Japan outside of the golden route.

Matsushima is a top tourism destination in the Tohoku region. I visited in November 2025. There were a lot more tourists than your video. I guess due to the time of year you filmed (winter) it was very quiet. That being said tourism numbers are far lower there than the golden route, which makes for a more relaxed experience even on a weekend.
