Today I’m trying something completely different in Tokyo… capsule pod hotels
From a super cheap pod that costs around $15 a night, to a much more luxurious capsule experience, I wanted to see what it’s really like to sleep inside one of Japan’s famous capsule hotels.
Are they comfortable?
Are they claustrophobic?
And could you actually get a good night’s sleep inside one of these tiny pods?
Capsule hotels are a huge part of Japanese culture and are designed to offer a simple, affordable place to stay in some of the world’s busiest cities. But what are they actually like?
Join me as I try several capsule pod hotels in Tokyo to see how they compare from cheap to surprisingly luxurious.

Oh my that’s to much. I couldn’t do it. Thankfully you did and showed us
the traditinal bath is cleaner than our pools tim think about it they wash completely then get in clean water to relax, we jump into pools with our street cloths on and our dirty bodies then swim around and get out thyen shower that pool is everyones dirt for the last year of use.
Walk With Me ASMR
Do they have a Penthouse Pod? lol. They must have put that fake toilet flushing sound button so you can push it to drown out the sounds of a loud #2😂
Really fascinating! I’ve always wondered what these pods were like! You should have gone back to the 9 Hour! Great vid! Thanks Tim!
Guess most of the viewers including Tim aren't judging these capsule hotels on their value. Hotels in Tokyo are generally very expensive. Probably Tim is too used to the luxury hotels at this point.
That first one definitely reminds me a coffin
Growing up as an American teenager in Japan(military family), we lived off of vending machine food and drinks and Georgia coffee is the absolute BEST! ❤
Just discovered your channel last night, Tim and (checking your videos) I wondered why you hadn't yet visited Japan. Well, today I see you just have! I spent almost two months in Tokyo- specifically Shinjuku, during 2024 and 2025. Always stayed at an APA Hotel- small rooms, but quite comfy, big bed, with own bathroom, shower, TV, Wi-Fi, etc. I think not much more (cost-wise) than the third place you stayed at! I think one of my pillows was one of those 'bead'-type, but actually quite comfortable! I have quite a few Japanese friends there, many of whom are musicians. Very nice during October when the weather is wonderful! If you are staying for a bit, try the very yummy, cheap snacks: 'Famichiki' crispy chicken, and egg sandwiches at 'Family Mart'. By the way, Asahi, Sapporo and other beer, taste far superior in Japan, than the poor, versions (because of ingredients, water and recipes) than the same versions of those beers, in other parts of the world. I was (delightfully) shocked when I first experienced a 'real' Asahi!
Planning on going back.
Nope😆
Hi baby ! i need to know if i can bring my men to those capsules and maybe be a bit knotty! let dr quinn know! xoxo
Tokyo looks really cool! Not sure I'd dig those capsules, but the second reminded me of an MRI machine. Great video Tim. Looking forward to your next adventure! 🙂
Mr. Tim, finally you're brave enough to visit ASIAN countries…. It's a different culture, so always have an open mind….
From the biggest room – or rather the Presidential Suite – he has ever stayed in to the smallest, not exactly a room, more like a StarTrek escape capsule, our Tim sure gets around. How many people can take a shower here, Tim? Let's find out!
Not quite up to Barj standard then , lol
Great fun. Thanks Tim!🎉❤
Idk if i would by a drink from a vending machine which is called "Golden Drip" …. jeiks.
For the love of God, would you please stop saying chocolates.
There is one in Waterloo in London.
Good for.homelessness ❤
To many wanlers that will wreck those machines Tim
NOW WE'RE TALKING!
Don't the awkward time limits negate most of these for overnight stays?
The smaller ones remind me of getting a hospital scan. I’m kind of claustrophobic so I don’t think I could do any of these. But very interesting to see what they were like!
We need this in THE US
I don't recall seeing a video of you doing the myheritage results
Thats weird, the screen you used to check into the 2nd pod was actually displayed in korean not japanese. Anyway, looking forward to the japan series of videos, safe travels tim!
I would have stayed in the 9hr pod because the bed seemed better there and I like that kind of pillow that conforms to my head. 9 hr looked cleaner too. You need to do more whipering Tim as its very ASMR…..relaxing! ☺ Thank you Tim…hoping you hit 1MILLION subscribers soon!
Don't fell out of bed Tim
Wow
You are brave Tim
I just could not sleep in any of these pods😮
It’s too encased for me
Great to see them , great vid
Must feel like sleeping in a torpedo tube
Look at all the showers you can run around having fun in 😂
I've seen other special paid videos and they gave had some really nice ones. Made even your "best" one look pretty bad. I'd do more research if I were you.
Really enjoyed this episode. Love that you took us to the pastry shop and other locations in the area. Please do more of that.
I stayed at a Japanese branded hotel. I think it’s their preference for mattresses. Not super hard, but definitely firmer than any hotel I’ve stayed back home in the US.
If you’re still in Japan I highly recommend you try some Hokkaido soft serve ice cream (it’s a milk flavor, but very good, I thoroughly miss it)
Interesting video Tim, I liked the 9 hours best, it looked cleaner and less noisy.
