Louis Vuitton’s newest piece is is an ode to Japan, where the sun rises behind the famed Mount Fuji – check it out below

The next stop on LV’s Escales Autour du Monde pocket watch collection is Japan, with a focus on Mount Fuji.

A gold compass rose is set at 12 o’clock in a light pink and blue sky alongside delicate Louis Vuitton Monogram flowers.

A mode of transport always features in these pieces, which here is a wooden fishing boat, that glides through the water from signature right to left.

The boat is depicted transporting Louis Vuitton trunks, sculpted in gold which slowly open and close to reveal tiny Louis Vuitton Monogram flowers.

Steering the ship is the mythical Ebisu, a cherished figure in Japanese folklore that symbolises luck and which is revered as the patron of fisherman and merchants.

Ebisu holds his emblematic fishing rod and tai sea bream, which are symbols of wealth and prosperity.

The scene is framed by Sakura cherry blossoms which mimic the Louis Vuitton monogram.

The flowers are sculpted in yellow gold and pink and red enamel, the automata further animates them as if swaying in the wind.

Finally, 60 baguette-cut sapphires are set on the bezel set in colour gradation to match the finished dial.

The watch case is 750/1000 white gold, engraved on the side with motifs symbolising the story of the dial. Along with a 750/1000 white gold besel set with coloured. stones and a white gold crown and suspension ring.

It is 50,0 mm in diameter with 19,0 mm thickness and a domed anti-reflection saphire crystal.

The case is also water-resistant.

The dial is created using a hand-engravings technique depicting cherry blossom flowers and branches, boat and its precious treasures, fisherman and a compass rose.

It also uses handcrafted enamel techniques, including Grand Feu enamel with champlevé, paillonné, and miniature enamel.

It includes 60 baguette-cut coloured sapphires for a total of 3.74 carats, with a 750/1000 white gold chain.

The piece includes LFT AU14.03 caliber mechanical movement with manual winding developed and assembled by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.
