Held in the beating heart of Japan, the Tokyo Marathon returned on Sunday 1 March for its 19th edition. Conditions for the 2026 race were mostly sunny, with temperatures hovering around 10ºC at the start.
Tadese Takele of Ethiopia repeated as the men’s champion, winning a sprint finish in 2:03:36, while Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei set a course record in the women’s race, crossing the line in 2:14:28. In the wheelchair races, Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner – both of Switzerland – won the men’s and women’s division respectively.
