The Osaka Prefectural Police arrested a 50-year-old man of the city of Higashiosaka in Osaka Prefecture on Saturday following the deaths of a couple in an apartment.
Police received an emergency call at around 5:10 p.m. on Friday — the caller said “I killed my parents.”
A police officer rushed to the scene and found a man and a woman, who appeared to be in their 80s, unconscious. They were taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
Kenji Matsuda, who lives in the apartment, admitted that he had strangled the couple and said he killed his mother first. Police are investigating his motives while trying to identify the two victims.
According to investigators, the woman was found leaning against a massager in a tatami room, while the man was found lying on his back in a living room.
Matsuda was in the apartment room when police arrived. He appeared to have lived there together with his parents.
