Former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka is back at an excellent level. The Japanese player reached the final of the WTA 1000 in Montreal last year against Victoria Mboko and is once again a threat in big tournaments.

However, the world No. 16 was unable to take the court in the third round of the Australian Open against Maddison Inglis in the only tournament she played this season outside the United Cup.

But the four-time Major winner is not giving up. At 28 years old, she who took a break from her career for a happy event still hopes to leave her mark on the sport.

She has expressed her desire to soon return to Grand Slam success, even though her daughter’s happiness has logically taken priority since her pregnancy.

“The Perception of Success Varies Depending on How You Think”

“When I was younger, I wanted to win every match and every tournament. Today, for me, success is being healthy, being able to play, and seeing my daughter smile.

The perception of success varies depending on how you think, your age, and what you’ve experienced. It has helped me understand that some things that seemed extremely important to me before didn’t actually have as much importance as I gave them.

I’ve realized that we don’t live forever, so there are precious moments to cherish. I want to win another Grand Slam tournament.

It’s an ambitious goal, but I think it’s achievable. It’s a shame I got injured at the Australian Open,” Osaka said in comments collected by Tribuna.
