Japanese tennis ace Naomi Osaka lauded fans for their tribute to one of her iconic outfits as spectators were pictures donning a veil similar to that of Osaka’s at the Australian Open last month.
Osaka wrote, “You will never understand what this picture means to me,” on social media platform Threads as the image of the fans surfaced online.
Osaka transformed the Rod Laver Arena into her personal runway with her elaborate costume choice, as fans marveled at the Japanese star’s Hollywood-style entrance for her opening Australian Open match against Antonia Ruzic.
The 28-year-old Osaka emerged from the tunnel wearing a veiled white hat and holding a white umbrella, before showcasing her warm-up outfit complete with fringes.
Osaka is known for her bold walkouts and elaborate attire, having previously delighted fashion enthusiasts with her appearance at the US Open, where she wore a rose-inspired embellished headband.
“Nike let me design this one… I’m just so grateful that I get to be able to do the things that I love,” Osaka said last month.
