Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will visit Singapore and Japan starting February 22. This will be his first visit to both countries as Chief Minister. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, he will stay in Singapore on February 23 and 24, and in Japan on February 25 and 26.
The main purpose of the visit is to attract investment to Uttar Pradesh, strengthen industrial cooperation, and encourage foreign companies to invest in the state. The Chief Minister is expected to meet business leaders, investors, and officials during the tour.

Will wear traditional saffron attire during the visit
Yogi Adityanath will travel abroad in his traditional saffron kurta and chola. He is usually seen in this attire at government programmes in India and at international events. Political observers say saffron clothing reflects his personal and religious identity, as he is a monk of the Nath sect.
Supporters view his attire as a representation of India’s cultural identity on the global stage. Some opposition leaders, however, see it as symbolic politics. It is uncommon, though not unprecedented, for constitutional authorities to travel abroad in traditional religious attire.
Will visit Hanuman temple in Japan
During his Japan visit, Yogi Adityanath is also expected to visit a Hanuman temple located about 40–50 kilometres from Tokyo. The visit is being seen as part of cultural and religious outreach. Officials say it reflects the cultural links between India and Japan.
May wear formal shoes during foreign tour
There is also discussion about his footwear. Yogi Adityanath usually wears sandals in public life, regardless of the season. However, he may wear formal shoes during this visit due to international protocol and weather conditions.
Has visited several countries after becoming Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath made his first foreign visit as Chief Minister to Myanmar in August 2017, where he attended an international conference. He later visited Nepal, Mauritius, and Russia as part of official programmes.
He has continued to wear saffron attire throughout his public life, including during official visits in India and abroad.
