π―π΅ Is Nishiki Market Worth the Hype? Kyoto Street Food Taste Test | Soy Milk to Sakura Mochi
Join us as we explore “Kyoto’s Kitchen”βthe famous Nishiki Market! π―π΅ In this video, we dive deep into the sights, sounds, and incredible flavours of this narrow, bustling shopping street.
Nishiki Market is a sensory overload in the best way possible, and we made it our mission to try a variety of traditional Kyoto street foods. We started fresh with a crisp pickled cucumber on a stick (a market classic!) and a savoury spring onion omelette that was cooked to perfection.
As we wandered deeper into the market, we cleansed our palates with fresh soybean milk and a creamy, crispy soybean croquette before hitting the main event: rich, charcoal-grilled Unagi (eel).
Of course, no food tour is complete without dessert. We tried traditional Sakura Mochi wrapped in salt-pickled cherry leavesβa unique blend of sweet and saltyβand finished with a juicy, pillowy Strawberry Daifuku.
If you’re planning a trip to Kyoto, this guide will show you exactly what to expect and what you need to put on your foodie bucket list.
