Ardnamurchan on Hope Street was visited by Japan’s ambassador to the UK, Hiroshi Suzuki.
They snapped a picture of the beaming official who has become an online sensation for his lighthearted posts.

Hiroshi is currently visiting Glasgow, where he has been touring the city, and the restaurant said it was “honoured” to host him.
Posting the picture on social media, they said: “Today we had the honour of hosting His Excellency Hiroshi Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan to the UK, along with members of the Japanese business community in Glasgow, at Ardnamurchan Restaurant & Bar.
“Moments like these are a reminder that restaurants are more than places to eat.
“They are spaces where relationships are built, ideas are exchanged, and international connections are strengthened.”
Hiroshi Suzuki is a veteran Japanese diplomat who has served as Japan’s Ambassador to the UK since September 2024.
He joined Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985 and has held a series of senior roles, including Ambassador to India and Bhutan, Deputy Foreign Minister for economic affairs, and a key foreign affairs aide to former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

He captioned the post: “Much looking forward to my upcoming visit to Glasgow.”
He was then spotted kicking off his visit by having “a wee swally” of a pint of Tennent’s at Celtic’s 2-1 win over Livingston on Wednesday night.
Ardnamurchan is a modern Scottish restaurant that puts a contemporary twist on traditional dishes, sourcing produce from across the Highlands and Islands.
The venue is known for hearty plates of haggis, venison and seafood, with vegetarian and vegan options also on the menu and an extensive whisky collection with over 67 bottles behind the bar.
