The Pokémon Company has officially announced that the new permanent theme park “PokéPark Kanto” will open on February 5, 2026, at Yomiuriland near Tokyo. This will be the world’s first immersive theme park combining the Pokémon worldview with the natural environment, allowing Trainers from around the globe to step into the Kanto region and experience the life and adventures of Pokémon firsthand!
What is “PokéPark Kanto”?

“PokéPark Kanto” is the world’s first permanent Pokémon theme park. It is a dedicated Trainer area where you can explore forests and towns inhabited by over 600 Pokémon. This adventure offers unforgettable discoveries for all Trainers, allowing Pokémon fans from around the world to share joy across borders and language barriers in a space that blends nature with entertainment!
Kanto Region

The name PokéPark Kanto carries a double meaning: it references the “Kanto Region” introduced in the original 1996 games Pokémon Red and Green, while also representing its physical location in Japan’s “Kantō region.” The Pokémon Company stated that the concept of this theme park is to allow fans to live and interact with Pokémon in a space close to nature, experiencing the daily life of a Trainer. This symbolizes the Pokémon brand entering a deeper stage of physical experience—no longer just games and animation, but an extension of life and emotion!
Experience a World Where Pokémon Exist
Junichi Masuda, Chief Creative Fellow at The Pokémon Company, stated: “It is thanks to your support that Pokémon has grown to this scale. We wanted to create a place where everyone can gather and have fun—a space where Pokémon are always present, and both people and Pokémon can enjoy themselves. Based on this idea, we began creating a world where Pokémon actually exist.” He added, “Pokémon live in the forest; when people walk among the trees, they will see groups of Pokémon with shining eyes playing together. What are they doing? I hope everyone uses their imagination and experiences a world where Pokémon exist!”
The Park Spans 2.6 Hectares

PokéPark Kanto is located at Yomiuriland near Tokyo. The park covers an estimated 2.6 hectares. While not as large as major parks like Disneyland or Universal Studios, its design concept is unique, creating an authentic stage that closely follows the Pokémon worldview. The entire park will be divided into two main themed areas: “Pokémon Forest” and “Cyperus Town”!

As Trainers step into the Entrance Plaza, they will be greeted by Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Once you’re ready for adventure, start your PokéPark KANTO journey at Dr. Ishigo’s Laboratory. Don’t forget to stop by the Pokémon Fan Store as well!
Dr. Ishigo’s Laboratory serves as the entrance to the Pokémon Forest and Cyperus Town; entry requires a specific type of ticket.
The Pokémon Fan Store requires obtaining a numbered ticket in advance for entry.
Pokémon Forest

In the “Pokémon Forest,” visitors can embark on a 500-meter exploration trail, traversing through real natural terrain like woods, caves, and valleys to observe Pokémon ecology in different habitats. Instead of focusing on mechanical rides, this area emphasizes exploration and observation, allowing visitors to become true “Pokémon Trainers” and experience the surprise of encountering Pokémon in the wild, just like in the anime!
Entry to the Pokémon Forest requires a Trainer Pass or an Elite Trainer Pass.
For safety reasons, the Pokémon Forest has entry restrictions. Please take note.
Due to the natural terrain with stairs and steep slopes, entry is prohibited for those unable to climb 110 stairs on their own, children under 5 and their companions, regardless of whether they have assistance.
Cyperus Town
