11th February 2026 – (Sapporo) Hong Kong acting veterans Tony Leung and Carina Lau were recently spotted by fans during a trip to Japan, with an airport moment capturing their distinctive dynamic. The couple, married for 17 years after a 36-year relationship, were at New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido when a fellow traveller shared images online.
The photographs show Leung, dressed in a black tracksuit, appearing momentarily bewildered while navigating a security checkpoint. His bemused expression, directed towards his wife waiting nearby, prompted humorous commentary from observers. Carina Lau was photographed standing a short distance away, clad in a long brown coat and a blue beanie, calmly watching the scene with her hands in her pockets. Social media users were entertained by the apparent silent interaction, interpreting Leung’s look as a playful “SOS” signal to his spouse.
The candid images sparked a mix of reactions. While many found the glimpse into the couple’s private travels endearing and funny, some questioned the appropriateness of taking and publishing such photos in a secure airport area.
In past interviews, Lau has shed light on their relationship, describing Leung as reserved and more likely to express himself in writing than verbally, particularly when apologising.
