Best enjoyed at night! How to enjoy the Sapporo Snow Festival Odori Site at night | Projection mapping and light-up information
The 76th Sapporo Snow Festival will open on February 4, 2026, and the “Odori Site at Night,” which will have a completely different look from the daytime, is attracting a lot of attention. The fantastic scenery, including the illuminated large snow sculptures, impressive projection mapping, and a performance that combines music and light, is a pleasure that can only be enjoyed at night. In this article, we will report on the highlights of the Odori Site at night, along with photos, based on what we saw while walking around the site on the first day of the festival.
1. Sapporo Chiaki-an’s Yama-Oyaji “Yukidaruma Milk Choco”: 10-chome Site

The snowman bear is so cute!
The 10-chome “UHB Family Land” features a massive Star Wars snow sculpture, as well as a line of food and merchandise booths. A must-buy item here is Sapporo Chiaki-an’s new product, “Yama-Oyaji Yukidaruma Milk Choco.”

“Yama-Oyaji Yukidaruma Milk Choco” (9 pieces, 1,400 yen)
This treat is made by adding Hokkaido milk to the batter of Sapporo Chiaki-an’s long-selling “Yama-Oyaji” senbei crackers, then generously coating it with a unique blend of bitter milk chocolate. The combination of the crispy cracker and the airy, fluffy milk chocolate is outstanding. With its subtle sweetness and light texture, you’ll feel like you could eat them endlessly.

A special heart-shaped package that’s just adorable
The special packaging is perfect for Valentine’s Day, making it a great gift for yourself, a loved one, or as a souvenir from Hokkaido and Sapporo.
2. PIZZA-LA’s “Two Snow Festival Exclusive Pizzas”: 8-chome Site

“Powdered Snow Parmesan Formaggio Pizza” (800 yen/slice) (left) and “Premium Creamy Red Snow Crab Pizza” (1,000 yen/slice) (right)
At the 8-chome “HTB Snow Square,” where the magnificent “Aizu Tsurugajo Castle” snow sculpture is a hot topic, the PIZZA-LA food truck is a great place to stop by while waiting for the projection mapping show. They offer two types of Snow Festival exclusive pizzas, each served in a paper case, making them perfect for eating while walking around the venue.

Perfectly designed for eating on the go
The “Premium Creamy Red Snow Crab Pizza ~The Shock of the Shell~” (1,000 yen/slice) truly lives up to its name, topped with crab still in its shell, giving it an authentic Hokkaido feel. The rich flavor of the crab meat is enveloped in a creamy sauce, creating a luxurious taste.
For cheese lovers, the “Powdered Snow Parmesan Formaggio Pizza ~with Hokkaido Mascarpone and Camembert Cheese~” (800 yen/slice) is highly recommended. In addition to the Parmesan sprinkled like powdered snow, it features four types of cheese—Hokkaido Camembert, Mozzarella, and Hokkaido Mascarpone—with a hint of honey for a sweet accent.
3. NEXCO East Japan’s “Age-imo”: 5-chome Site

“Age-imo” (500 yen), a soul food every Hokkaido local knows
The 5-chome “Doshin Snow Square” is not only home to the large snow sculpture “Thoroughbreds Shining with Glory” but also offers a great selection of food booths. One must-try item is from the NEXCO East Japan booth: “Age-imo,” a beloved favorite among Hokkaido residents.

Instead of the usual skewered version, two age-imo balls are served in a cup with chopsticks. This makes them easy to eat and perfect for sharing.

Break open the age-imo and watch the fluffy steam rise!
The outside is crispy, while the inside is fluffy and steaming. It has a light texture and a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors. Plus, when I bought the age-imo, I received a 100 yen discount ticket for a “Shiawase no Kaku Highball” at the adjacent Suntory booth. You can enjoy a great deal on an age-imo and highball set.
4. SNOWS’s “Snow Sand Snow Festival Limited Edition Tin”: 4-chome Site

The SNOWS booth around 5 PM. When I was there, a line was forming on the left.
At the 4-chome site, where the large snow sculpture “Prayer ~A Message from the Jomon Period~” makes a huge impact, you’ll find a pop-up from the popular winter-exclusive Hokkaido sweet brand “SNOWS.” Look for the prominent “SNOWS” sign, which is visible even from Ekimae-dori street.

“Snow Sand White & Black 2-piece Limited Edition Tin” (700 yen)
Their popular raw chocolate sandwich cookie, “Snow Sand,” is available in a limited-edition Snow Festival package. There are two versions: the “Snow Sand White & Black 2-piece Limited Edition Tin” (700 yen) and the “Snow Sand White & Black 6-piece Limited Edition Tin” (2,050 yen).
The crispy, fragrant lang de chat cookie is filled with a generous amount of rich, smooth raw chocolate made from winter-grazed milk, creating a decadent, wintery flavor.

Butter candy “Yuki Hitotsu” (100g, 540 yen)
They also sell “Yuki Hitotsu” (100g, 540 yen), a milk butter candy with a characteristically smooth, white melt-in-your-mouth texture. The butter candy, with its warm felt packaging that evokes a sense of Hokkaido, is also a great souvenir.
5. Curry Shop Indian’s “Indian-man” and more: 1-chome Site

“Indian,” a local curry shop known by everyone in Obihiro and Tokachi, Hokkaido
The 1-chome “J:COM Hiroba,” close to the subway station and bustling with tourists visiting the TV Tower, is packed with food booths. At the foot of the TV Tower, you’ll find a stall from “Indian,” a popular curry shop from Tokachi-Obihiro. Here, you can try their “Indian-man” (500 yen), a curry bun made with aged curry roux wrapped in dough made from Hokkaido wheat.

“Indian-man” (500 yen)
The rich Indian curry roux, meaty umami, and fluffy bun come together for an exquisite taste. It was just like eating Indian curry itself.
The hot Indian-man made me crave a drink, so I headed to another booth in the venue, “Wakusei Cornelius.” Their “Hot Sangria Red” (600 yen) is a warm wine with a lemon aroma and a gentle sweetness.

“Hot Sangria Red” (600 yen)
It had a wintery flavor that warmed my chilled body. A white wine version is also available.
