Cherry blossom In Okinawa

Over the past couple of days, our writer Cassandra went on a special early cherry blossom trip down to Okinawa, following Matt’s earlier visit to Atami.🌸

While our usual cherry blossom reports focus on the Somei Yoshino, the variety most common across Japan’s main islands and even Hokkaido, this trip was a little different. The Somei Yoshino doesn’t thrive in Okinawa’s warmer climate, so the stars of the season here are the wild, native Kanhizakura.
