Japan cancels famous cherry blossom festival

Japan is famous for its cherry blossom season, which peaks from late March to early April, or even May.

But overcrowding near Mount Fuji has led to the cancellation of one of the country’s most famous festivals.

The city expects many visitors nevertheless and will provide extra security, temporary parking and additional portable toilets to minimize the impact on locals.

Mount Fuji remains one of Japan’s top attractions, and neighboring towns have already limited daily visitors in order to manage crowds.
