Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC), a Japanese regional airline based in Okinawa, will add extra flights on the Miyako–Tarama route and the Okinawa/Naha–Miyako route on February 19.
The airline will increase a total of 4 flights, equivalent to 1 round-trip (2 flights) on each route. The DHC-8-400CC aircraft will be operated on these flights.
On January 23, the Okinawan newspaper Ryukyu Shimpo reported that the number of passengers known as “pilgrims”, who repeatedly fly the Tarama–Miyako route to earn airline miles or take advantage of rewards, has been increasing and negatively affecting the daily lives of local residents.
