Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo and an economic delegation attended the opening ceremony of the 76th Sapporo Snow Festival in Japan on the morning of February 4.

Mayor Lee Jangwoo of Daejeon said, “It is a pleasure to meet again in Sapporo in winter after meeting in Daejeon last summer,” adding, “This is my third visit to the Sapporo Snow Festival, and the 0:00 Festival and the Snowflake Festival are loved as festivals that symbolize summer and winter in each country.”

He added, “I hope that the history of the festivals will deepen together, just as the friendship between our sister cities grows stronger.”

After attending the opening ceremony, Mayor Lee encouraged artists Park Youngsoo, Yoon Yudam, and Kim Jin, who are participating as representatives of Korea in the 50th International Snow Sculpture Contest.
