Hiromu Takahashi is the latest talent to leave New Japan Pro Wrestling.

The promotion issued a statement on Monday:

Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

After careful consideration and discussions with NJPW management, Hiromu Takahashi, who has been a long standing member of the NJPW roster will leave New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

We apologise to fans for the sudden nature of this announcement. Hiromu’s final scheduled appearance with NJPW will be at New Beginning in Osaka on February 11.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling wishes Hiromu Takahashi the very best in his future activities and invites fans to show their support on his remaining appearances with NJPW.

Takahashi’s exit comes one week after NJPW confirmed that EVIL is leaving the company. Last month, they also announced an “indefinite hiatus” for SANADA.

Takahashi has been the centerpiece of its junior heavyweight division for the past decade after graduating from its dojo in 2010.

As Kamaitachi, he gained international attention in CMLL for his matches with Dragon Lee and returned to NJPW in 2016 as “The Time Bomb” and was welcomed into LIJ by Tetsuya Naito.

In July 2018, he suffered a broken neck when he took a Phoenix Plex from Lee and missed sixteen months of action.

He is a five-time junior heavyweight champion, a four-time Best of the Super Juniors winner, and held the IWGP tag titles and NEVER Openweight six-man tag belts.

Recently, Takahashi was working dates for Pro Wrestling NOAH and had a brief run as its GHC junior heavyweight champion.
