The three Exeter College students, Bill Geis, Harry Batten, and Jerry Keys, were selected to participate in the Sanix World Rugby Youth Tournament in April.
This prestigious event features top schoolboy teams from around the world, with these Colts representing the England team.
The fundraising event was organised last Friday evening as a quiz night, including a specialised round on Japan.
Attendees enjoyed katsu curry alongside the quizzing, all in the spirit of supporting the young players.
Through ticket sales and a raffle, £1,000 was raised for the boys’ fund.
But the evening’s highlight was a surprise donation of an additional £1,000 from a local charity, RV One.
It was a popular event. (Image: supplied)
Exmouth-based RV One advocates for fitness, wellbeing, and community support, promoting mental health, alongside sharing a strong connection with the Exmouth rugby community.
Founder and CEO, Tom Merriman, expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from the rugby community and stressed the importance of returning the favour to support the lads’ forthcoming rugby adventures.
The total expenditure for this trip is a hefty sum, and more contributions are welcome.
If you would like to support the boys, they’ve established a GoFundMe appeal, which can be located either at this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/tdk3dv-exeter-college-rugby-japan-trip-2026 or by searching the Gofundme website with the words Exmouth Colts.
The trio are part of the Exeter Chiefs Academy pathway, with high hopes of reaching the top ranks of adult rugby.
