[New ] Japan Travel DEC-2025 Episode #5 I Kagoshima to Yakushima

Welcome back to Japan Travel December 2025, Journey Across Kyushu and Yakushima Episode 5!
This journey begins with a road trip from Hyūga City in Miyazaki Prefecture to Kagoshima City.
After savoring an incredibly luxurious local Kagoshima feast in the city, the next day I’ll show you the journey as I finally board the ferry to my long-awaited destination: Yakushima Island.

Did you know that Japan’s highway rest areas are incredibly appealing?
The large rest areas are like shopping malls.
They’re so popular and attractive that some people in Japan even make long trips just to visit a specific rest area, with no other destination in mind. They’re also popular for offering local cuisine and fresh regional products.
In this video, I’ll introduce the Yamanokuchi Rervice Area, which is smaller in scale.
Miyazaki Prefecture enjoys many sunny days throughout the year, making the road between Miyazaki and Kagoshima exceptionally beautiful and highly recommended for driving.
I’ll also show you a driving scene with beautiful Sakurajima, a symbol of Kagoshima, in the background.
After that, I’ll introduce Kurobuta Fukuya, a high-end Kurobuta pork shabu-shabu restaurant we visited in Kagoshima City.
And finally, I set sail from Kagoshima Port to Miyanoura Port on Yakushima Island by ferry.

The scenery during the ferry voyage to Yakushima feels increasingly vivid, as if the real journey is finally about to begin.
