Today was our first official tour day. We walked the grounds of Shuri Castle which used to be the ancient capital of the Ryukyu Kingdom before they got taken over by the Sho Dynasty. First, we walked through the Shurei no Mon that led us to the castle. Then we headed over to the Himeyuri Peace Museum. This was created as a memorial for the female high school students who had to work as nurses but were killed during the Battle of Okinawa. Lastly, we went to the Chuko Awamori Factory where we learned how they made their awamori and also got to sample the different awamori they sold.
