We start our journey at Kaiten Karato Ichiba Sushi, enjoying incredibly fresh conveyor belt sushi with a stunning view of the Kanmon Strait. For dinner, we visit the highly-rated Kirishima, where we indulge in a massive sashimi platter featuring uni, abalone, tuna, and squid. We also try Watarigani (Japanese Blue Swimmer Crab) for the first time—its rich, sweet flavor paired with citrusy ponzu was a total game-changer! 🦀

Our autumn food adventure continues with Sanma Shioyaki (Salt-Grilled Pacific Saury), served at its seasonal peak. The next morning, we explore the famous Dormy Inn breakfast, packed with local specialties like grilled fugu (pufferfish) and the legendary Kawara Soba—green tea noodles served on a scorching hot roof tile! 🍜

Beyond the food, we take a boat to Ganryu Island to walk the grounds of the legendary duel between Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. We even had a lucky encounter with a wild Tanuki! 🦝

We finish the trip at Ikiiki Bakangai inside Karato Market, grabbing world-class sushi from Takesho and eating it right on the waterfront. This is officially the best sushi experience in Japan for the price!
