Gardens Umekita by Kohnan offers a wide selection of houseplants, succulents, rare plants, hydroponic plants, kokedama, decorative planters, woven baskets, and fresh flowers perfect for bouquets. The shop also includes aquariums, tropical fish, and aquatic-plant setups, creating a unique blend of greenery and living water decor.
We visited on a quiet day and found people of all ages carefully choosing their plants and flowers — a beautiful reflection of Japanese culture and its deep connection to nature. You can even find workshops here, from terrarium making to green-living classes.
This serene space reminded me of the women in my family who loved plants and gardening, especially my grandmother. At the end of the video, I share a poem honoring the memories that live in gardens.
