The Midosuji Illumination is Osaka’s spectacular annual winter light festival, transforming the city’s main boulevard (Midosuji Avenue) into a dazzling 4km-long display of lights, lasers, projection mapping, and music from November/December through New Year’s, connecting Umeda to Namba and often tying into the Osaka Expo. This world-record-holding event decorates ginkgo trees with gentle, themed lighting, creating a festive atmosphere with landmark illuminations and interactive elements, making it a major highlight of the “Festival of the Lights in OSAKA”.
