Appreciate this video Gordon, very informative. I didn't know that shorter option is not available any more, which is a huge shame! I'd rather get there quicker and without having to spend the entire night. I wonder what happened for it to be suspended!

Thanks for the video Gordon! Interesting ferry! It could be a nice way to travel for anyone who wants to save some money!! Like those overnight bus in Japan but looks like you can sleep way better than those overnight bus 🚌 actually I might even consider that if I am travelling that route ❤
Thanks Gordon! That was a very informative and entertaining video. It seems like 7/11 is something else in Japan and other Asian countries. No comparison to the US whatsoever. Folks love these little packaged pancakes. Did you try them?
Thanks Gordon, am in Japan next September and never thought about doing this! I think I would perhaps take the ‘private’ room option however – you are braver than me and have an even more brave family to choose it!
Nice! 🙂
I took the Fukuoka to Busan route earlier this year in April. It was a pleasant experience, interesting to see so much stuff marketed towards the Koreans along with Korean-style food and even Korean-speaking attendants but the payment was all done in Japanese Yen. Was a great way to just unwind and take it slow instead of the rapid zipping through the countryside the Shinkansen does, and gives good opportunities to just chat with other fellow travelers while riding the slow boat and just chill.
Spoke with a German gentleman who was taking the cruise since he was biking across Japan and wanted to take his bike with him to Korea and was planning to bike from Busan to Seoul! Also spoke with an elderly Korean couple who were coming back with their car, taking the Busan to Fukuoka route to take their car with them to drive around the country and they were coming back home. You meet all sorts of people on this ferry and that was an interesting experience for me.
It was also funny to see all the Korean ajummas and ajussis in the International Terminal in Fukuoka spending the last of their Japanese Yen in the gift shop right before boarding as that's just part of the culture if you go traveling – you're expected to bring small little gifts of confectionaries or whatever when you come back home. One of the grandpas had a huge stack of leftover Japanese 500 yen coins, so I guess they were paying with cash instead of card and had lots of JPY left to burn.
good vid!
thanks for the video, looking forward to trying the ferry
