In April 2024, Japan began rolling out eVisa applications in India. The process is managed by Japan Visa Application Centres operated by VFS Global. The application process remains largely the same, and still involves submitting your documents and application to VFS. This eVisa is designed for short-term tourism, offering a single-entry option allowing stays up to 90 days. Both Indian citizens and foreign nationals residing in India are eligible to apply. While the application process remains similar, visas will now be issued electronically instead of physical stickers in passports. Upon receiving the eVisa, travellers must present a visa issuance notice on their mobile device at the airport, which requires internet access. PDFs, photos, screenshots, or printed copies of the eVisa will not be accepted. The visa fee is Rs 500. You can apply for the visa here.

(Note: Visa rules can change without notice. So be sure to keep up with the latest visa rules of each country before you book your tickets.)
