TOKYO to KYOTO Cycling Tour – ‘It’s like riding through history!’

From ultra-modern Tokyo, from its beating heart, we cycled into the past, out to Mt. Fuji, onto Kiso and the Nakasendo Trail, into the mountains on the rindo paths (forest roads), along to the World Heritage site that is Shirakawa-Go, finally on to beautiful, historic Kyoto.

800km, 10,00m, three of us on our KOJO Recon Tour, with our awesome driver, Mr. Kazu Nishi – amazingly, tour leader and KOJO co-founder knew Kazu from his days in Shikoku 25 years ago! The two had not met since then, and then there he was, just as cool, just as Zen as ever, and he brought his matcha making kit with him too.

Thank you also to Rebecca Ellis and Chu Ming Ng, both KOJO Ambassadors, for the fantastic company.

We rode, we ate, we laughed, we had a blast.

Also thanks to Norman White for the support, and Mike McCreesh and Kev Merrey for the belief in the project.

In KOJO we stand, and we stand collected!

Next Tokyo to Kyoto tour is June 15th – 26th.

  1. Clean. Not a single shred of plastic, or rubbish or anything which is not a sight for sore eyes. Compared with Mumbai, you can directly tell which is hell.

  2. Must be nice to ride with just water and good bikes. We did the shimanami kaido with daypacks and rental street bikes. And it was still amazing. You could have removed the tree :/
