We’ve got great news if you’re a fan of drifting: JDM: Japanese Drift Master is launching on PS5 on February 6th. A realistic racing game with emphasis on drifting, JDM launched first on PC and Xbox last May. Following a swathe of praise and positive reviews, developer Gaming Factory is bringing the game to a new format so a new legion of players can enjoy.

JDM: Japanese Drift Master sets itself apart from a lot of other arcade racing games by using licensed cars, immediately putting itself in the realm of the likes of Forza Horizon. Set in Japan, this is an open world, story-driven experience that pays homage to Japanese street racing culture. Sure, winning races and driving fast is important, but it’s drifting around corners that really matters here.

You’ll be able to jump behind the wheel of a Nissan, Subaru, Mazda or a Honda, tuning each car to your heart’s desire by purchasing new parts and tinkering to get your ride just right. If you’re a car aficionado in real life, you’ll likely appreciate that Gaming Factory has used authentic recordings for car and engine sounds.

What will likely be music to many players’ ears is that the game has been designed primarily for controller play. You can choose between two preset modes: arcade, which offers a more relaxed experience, and simcade, which turns all assists off, for a more realistic experience.

Sound good? You can play JDM: Japanese Drift Master right now on Xbox and PC. But if you’re a PS5 user, you won’t have to wait too much longer: it launches digitally on 6th February.
