Kazumi Asamura Hayashi, a Tokyo-based editor and creative, has been appointed the new head of editorial content at Vogue Japan, marking a new chapter for the title following leadership shifts last year.

Hayashi will begin in the role on January 29, Condé Nast announced on Thursday. She succeeds Tiffany Godoy, who stepped down as the title’s head of editorial content in October 2025 after leading the magazine since 2022.

Hayashi brings extensive editorial experience to the role, having launched i-D Japan in 2016 before expanding it regionally with i-D Asia. She previously served as editor-in-chief of Libertine Dune, Japan’s leading independent fashion culture magazine, and co-founded contemporary art platform The Last Gallery.

“Kazumi is a bold, intuitive editor, with an eye shaped by her previous experiences in culture and the arts,” Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s chief content officer and global editorial director of Vogue, said in a statement. “I believe she is the right leader to guide Vogue Japan into its next chapter, bringing a strong editorial voice alongside a deep understanding of the moment.”

Hayashi will report to Leslie Sun, Vogue APAC editorial director and head of editorial content for Vogue Taiwan, as part of broader leadership transitions at Condé Nast Japan, including the upcoming arrival of Soichiro Fujiwara as managing director in March.
