First, the delegation visiting Las Vegas plans to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on January 8 with digital AI infrastructure investment and development companies based in the United States and Australia. The city also intends to devise incentives to attract companies to Ilsan Technovalley, which is scheduled for full-scale sales this year.

On January 8 and 9, the delegation will attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2026), the world’s largest IT and electronics exhibition, to observe the latest technology trends and promote the development of Goyang’s future strategic industries and the expansion of global cooperation.

In particular, the delegation will visit the booths of Goyang-based companies such as Quaternion and Smart Medical Device at the CES 2026 exhibition hall to check the status of their exhibitions and listen to the opinions of company representatives. They also plan to study innovative technologies in exhibition areas such as robotics, digital health, and AI wellness homes, using these insights to inform future business support policies.

Additionally, the delegation will meet with Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley and officials from the tourism authority to exchange views on the operation of large-scale international events and the direction of MICE industry policies. The possibility of cooperation linked to Goyang’s ongoing projects to develop cultural, exhibition, and performance infrastructure will also be discussed at this meeting.

Meanwhile, on January 11, the Goyang delegation will travel to Hakodate, Japan, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of their sister-city relationship and further elevate the cooperative ties between the two cities.

On January 12, the delegation will visit the Hakodate Machizukuri Center, a regional regeneration hub, and the Hakodate Community Plaza G-Square, a citizen exchange space, to explore urban regeneration models that could be applied in Goyang.

On the final day, January 13, the delegation will visit Hakodate Future University to discuss cooperation in IT and future technology fields. They will also hold a youth roundtable to gather opinions on future exchange projects between the two cities.

Afterward, the delegation will exchange a commemorative plaque with Hakodate Mayor Jun Ooizumi to mark the 15th anniversary of their sister-city relationship and discuss practical follow-up cooperation measures across economic, cultural, and educational sectors during a luncheon meeting.

A Goyang Special City official stated, “Through this visit, we aim to promote Goyang’s investment value on the global stage of CES and further solidify our longstanding trust with Hakodate. We will do our utmost to help Goyang emerge as a world-class self-sufficient city by attracting global companies and fostering active international exchanges.”
