Aloha, fellow retired Kamaaina traveler. I didn't find Japan expensive. Think it's cheaper than the US. I was disappointed in Tokyo. Way overrun with tourists. Been going to Japan for over 25 years. When we were there last year, we took the ferries. Very reasonable. Travel from Nagoya to Hokkaido, three days, two nights in a cabin. Tickets were less than $220. Great way to travel. Only Westerners on the ship

Where would you recommend someone to start learning to eat with chopsticks? I’m worried going there…OMG would love to travel there. Do they have forks? Is it dangerous?
