Tokyo Disney Welcomes 900 Millionth Guest Ahead of Anniversary. Tokyo Disney Resort just hit a massive milestone. On January 6, 2026, the resort welcomed its 900 millionth visitor. This comes nearly 43 years after Tokyo Disneyland first opened its gates in 1983. The timing is perfect for the resort. This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Tokyo DisneySea, the only Disney park in the world with a nautical theme.
900,000,000 over 42 years and 266 days means that Tokyo Disneyland has averaged around 21.06 million guests per year the Resort has been open! About 57,666 guests every single day!
Wataru Takahashi, the President of Oriental Land Co. (the company that runs the resort), thanked the millions of people who have visited over the decades. He also gave a shout-out to the “cast members”—the staff who keep the parks running every day.
Martina Sardelli from The Walt Disney Company joined in the celebration, too. She called the achievement a testament to the hard work of the teams in Japan and the U.S. who have kept the magic going for 42 years.
If you’re planning a trip soon, there is a lot of new stuff on the horizon: The Sparkling Jubilee: Starting this April, Tokyo DisneySea will kick off its 25th-anniversary event. Wreck-It Ralph: A new attraction based on the movie is coming to Tokyo Disneyland. Space Mountain: The famous coaster and the area around it are getting a major renovation.
The resort’s 2026 ambassadors, Shingo Kameda and Hikaru Hamanaka, said the milestone is all about the memories made with guests from Japan and around the world. They promised that the staff will keep working to make sure the resort stays a place where “dreams come true.”
It took over four decades to get to 900 million, but with all the new expansions, the resort doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
