The Japan In-House Counsel Network (JICN) has appointed Akiko Kikuchi, general counsel at Novo Nordisk, as its new co-president, joining continuing co-president Angela Yuen, deputy general counsel at power generation company JERA.
Kikuchi has more than two decades of legal experience, and also serves as the vice president of legal, ethics and compliance at healthcare company Novo Nordisk. She is returning to JICN leadership, having previously served as co-president and as a senior adviser.
The leadership change follows the departure of Anthony Luna , a lawyer at boutique firm southgate, who stepped down from the JICN board after transitioning back into private practice. Luna joined the board in 2019 and has served as co-president since April 2024. He was previously general counsel at IBM Japan.
During his tenure, Luna spearheaded initiatives such as informal networking happy hours and the organisation’s year-end party. He also introduced a sponsorship programme aimed at supporting JICN’s long-term sustainability and growth.
