Japanese New Year Ride: Visiting Ikuta Shrine on a Honda Super Cub

Happy New Year everyone! In this video, I take my Honda Super Cub for the first ride of the year to visit Ikuta Shrine in Kobe for a Japanese tradition called “Hatsumode.”

What is Hatsumode? Hatsumode is the first Shinto shrine visit of the Japanese New Year. Many people visit shrines during the first few days of January to pray for health, safety, and good fortune for the year ahead.

About Ikuta Shrine: Located in the heart of Kobe, Ikuta Shrine is one of the oldest and most historical shrines in Japan, known as a place for “Enmusubi” (matchmaking and relationships).

Join me as I navigate the New Year crowds on my Super Cub and experience the vibrant atmosphere of a Japanese New Year!
