Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s remarks on Taiwan violate both international protocol and diplomatic norms, said Atsushi Koketsu, professor emeritus at Yamaguchi University, recently.

Koketsu called it a grave “diplomatic failure.”

He noted that Takaichi’s statements fundamentally contradict Japan’s identity as a peace-loving nation governed by its pacifist constitution. The professor expressed deep disappointment, emphasizing that Takaichi’s stance is undermining the Sino-Japanese relationship.
