Taro Baden (59), the new president of Orix Buffaloes Buffaloes, who took office on January 1st, held a press conference at Kyocera Dome on the 5th. Introducing himself as “Born in the Year of the Horse, my name is Baden,” he declared his intentions as the oldest man in the game. “I want to make this a strong, tough, and cool team. As a child, he lived near the late Nishimoto Yukio, who was manager of Kintetsu and Hankyu. He joined Orix Buffaloes Corporation in 1990, and witnessed the moment when the team became Japan’s best in Game 5 of the Japan Series against The Giants on October 24th in 1996 (Green Stadium Kobe). He realized that “winning is the most important thing, bringing joy and strength to the fans and the Kansai region.” He inherited the heavy responsibility from his predecessor, Minato Michio (63), who helped the team win the league title three times in a row since 2009. “If you create an environment for the players and allow them to perform at 100%, the results will surely follow,” he declared. ◆Baden Taro (59 years old) was born on June 27, 1966 in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture. After graduating from Konan University, he joined Orix Buffaloes Corporation in 1990. He has served as Tokyo Central Branch Manager and Group Kansai Vice Representative, among other positions, and has been an executive officer since 2012. In January 2014, he was appointed Group Kansai Representative and Representative Director and President of Orix Buffaloes baseball Club Co., Ltd. In elementary school, he played in little league baseball except for left field, and even played at Koshien.
