TOKYO: US President Donald Trump on Friday invited Japanese Prime Minister TAKAICHI Sanae to visit the United States and this is expected to happen in the spring.
Japan’s Foreign Ministry stated that the two leaders held a “Japan-US Summit Telephone Talk” on Friday in which they agreed to “carve out a new chapter in the history of the Japan-US Alliance.”
Takaichi offered her congratulations on the 250th anniversary of the founding of United States this year and reiterated her respect for President Trump’s diplomatic efforts to achieve peace around the world, including in Ukraine and the Middle East.
The two leaders agreed to further deepen relations and Japan-US cooperation in areas that include the economy and security.
They also reinforced their commitment to promoting cooperation among like-minded partners, such as South Korea, and on other matters such as maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).
