Masaoki Shindo’s RuriDragon manga is receiving a television anime adaptation produced by Kyoto Animation. The announcement was made alongside a promotional video and a newly drawn illustration featuring comment from the creator.

The video shows snippets from KyoAni’s works from 2025 and 2026, before confirming that the studio is adapting RuriDragon.

Shindo commented on the anime adaptation, thanking readers for their continued support and expressing enthusiasm for Kyoto Animation’s involvement.

“Thank you once again for reading RuriDragon this year. Hyouka is my favorite Kyoto Animation work, especially the cultural festival arc that moves through multiple perspectives. Watching everything Houtarou does while he’s running the booth is my favorite part. He’s just sitting there, yet it’s so enjoyable!! And now, this manga is being adapted into an anime by Kyoto Animation.”

Meanwhile, the caption accompanying the promotional video noted, “Sounds like they’re making an anime. The broadcast is still a long way off.”

RuriDragon centers on Ruri Aoki, a teenage girl who wakes up one morning to discover a horn growing from her head. When she brings it up with her mother, she is casually told that it may be hereditary, as her father is actually a dragon. Though unsettled, Ruri continues going to school, and the story follows her quiet, everyday life as she adjusts to her unusual circumstances.

RuriDragon began as a one-shot published in Shueisha’s Jump Giga magazine in December 2020, before launching as a full serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in June 2022. After an 18-month hiatus, the manga resumed in April 2024 and shifted to Weekly Shōnen Jump’s digital edition and the Shonen Jump+ platform.

As of November 2025, the series has been compiled into four tankobon volumes.

The manga is available digitally in English through Viz Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus service.
