The legendary anime studio behind K-On! and Lucky Star just confirmed its first Shonen Jump anime adaptation in the company’s 40-year history.
Kyoto Animation officially confirmed that its first Shonen Jump anime will be the fantasy coming-of-age series RuriDragon by Masaoki Shindo. The surprise anime announcement was made in a thank-you video the studio released to its fans that supported them in 2025, 2026, and soon, 2027. The RuriDragon TV anime series is currently scheduled for release sometime in 2027.
“The story of a young dragon girl being lazy, doing her best…and being lazy again,” the official MangaPlus description for RuriDragon reads. The ongoing Shonen Jump digital series continues to receive countless praises for its hilarious adolescent depiction of a young girl coming to terms with her dragon-half side.
