Authorities in central Japan say that 15 people were injured in a stabbing incident at a factory in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan. Police have arrested a man for attempted murder.
Police and fire department officials say they received an emergency call from Yokohama Rubber’s Mishima Plant at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The caller said five or six people were stabbed and that some kind of liquid had been scattered at the plant.
Fire department officials said 15 men were injured but are conscious. Eight of them were reportedly stabbed and six were splashed with what appeared to be bleach.
The suspect claims to be 38-year-old Oyama Masaki living in Mishima City.
Police have not revealed whether the suspect has admitted to the charges.
Investigative sources said the suspect is believed to be associated with the factory.
