Today we’re reviewing Starlux Airlines Premium Economy on a long-haul flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Taipei (TPE) aboard the Airbus A350-900 to see if Asia’s most hyped airline actually delivers.
In this in-depth flight review, I break down everything you need to know before booking Starlux Premium Economy, including seat comfort and legroom, baggage allowance, priority boarding, inflight dining, amenities, lavatories, entertainment, Wi-Fi, service, and overall value compared to economy and business class.
You’ll also see a full cost comparison using both cash fares and Alaska Mileage Plan points to determine whether upgrading to premium economy is truly worth the extra money on a 15-hour flight.
If you’re considering flying Starlux Airlines, comparing premium economy vs economy, or researching the best premium economy class on long-haul flights, this review will help you decide if Starlux Premium Economy lives up to the hype—or if it’s an overpriced upgrade.

hmm 2.5x for premium economy seems a bit much, maybe if they looked the other way with carryon weight 😜 the smoked duck looked good and I must say the storage area underneath the seat was spotless 🧼
Hmmm… certainly not impressed… when considering the dismal offerings… why would anyone be???
Although the seat looks quite nice and spacious, I don’t think it’s worth it to pay two and a half times of the economy class.
if I was smaller id stick with their economy product, but over 6 ft 200lb its rough
I flew Delta from Salt Lake City to Incheon, it was the same plane the difference they have a comfort section which has almost all the benefits of premium for $550 less. It’s a 3 3 3 configuration so you don’t need to have someone else climbing over you to go to the bathroom like premium does if you have an aisle seat. For frame of reference that $550 paid for three nights at the absolutely beautiful new Intercontinental Hotel In Bangkok.
Another Great video. 🎉
I Love the way you lay out the content and breakdown everything in Black & white.
I will be flying Premium economy from Taiwan real soon.
Loved your video. Delta gives all rewards members free wi fi. The food was better than Delta comfort but can’t justify the price for better food. Delta the food was awful but you can grab snacks etc when you wanted. The passenger fully reclined crushes the person behind them. Korean airlines gave similar amenities in economy. I just don’t see the value versus using the money for superior accommodations and meals at your destination.
China and EVA are fantastic. That service looked on par with EVA but China is better in my experience. When Starlux first came on they were suppose to be on par with Singapore doesn't look like it. They gotta up their game maybe the reality of cost has sunk in. China Airlines is fantastic stick with them!
I have only flown EVA and China Airlines. China Airlines economy has been incredible. Hard to beat the food, service, and seats especially for the price.
Love your reviews. Those shoes! lol
so much smiley. que American beauty. https://youtu.be/5qfBlDLHRoY?si=sjDe7tM6q_QcWAj_
That looks like a good product.
Not too pricey for such a long flight. Looked like a decent experience and your usual astonishing propensity for hoovering up miles at an incredible rate!
That congee looked disgusting, like someone puked all over it or worst…diarrhea.
Love your videos. I flew Starlux business in October it was fantastic. I rank it right up there with Q suites and Singapore. Starlux experience easily crush EVA 777.
I Like The Product Premium Economy.Great Video And Info
I Have Only Eperience China Airlines,I Love The 2-3-2 Seting On A350
Looks pretty legit IMO – though I think the bulkhead seats would be better to avoid peeps in front reclining all the way like that. Thanks for the info + video!
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸✈️✈️✈️ As a health care professional I highly recommend to use a piece of disposable paper towel when unlocking and when opening the lavatory door!!! (Let me be very frank why…💩💩💩) Nice vlog as always. 👍👍😋
I flew my first premium economy flight in June with Eva Air. These premium economy seats really do recline a long way back practically in the persons lap behind. I did what you did in one of your videos before not sure if you did it in this one I reserved a seat with the wall behind me so there was no one behind me. I know it's silly but I would feel bad reclining so far back. Another great video as always.
The buzz at the airport is that Starlux will add Helsinki 2026. Great overview of their service.
I guess if you have money that's okay but if you're broke don't even think about it
It’s insulting and embarrassing for the airline to weight your carry on at the gate. Nope, not flying Starlux.
Well, Starlux is just EVA Airline's younger sibling: EVA controlled by the older brother and the young brother owns Starlux.
I never get my carry on bag weighted. Wow,
It’s expensive because it’s a direct flight. I prefer ANA – perk includes lounge access. I fly to Manila with usually 4 hour layover in Haneda. ANA lounge is superb. In SFO, ANA has United Airlines lounge access.
With the AS award ticket was there additional charge for seat selection?
I’ll be trying premium economy on Starlux. I frequently use other airlines to go to Japan, Singapore,Thailand and the Philippines but seems like they’re all going down in quality.
2:24 Economy class. That's awfully narrow?
Never
