Hokkaido Air System (HAC) will add more flight cancellations due to the inspection of the aircraft that was designated as a serious incident.
Maintenance work is underway on the aircraft that experienced an engine malfunction on flight JL2823 from Sapporo/Okadama to Akita on December 11 (ATR42-600, registration: JA14HC). HAC has newly decided to cancel an additional 80 flights to be operated from December 27 through January 9, 2026. Furthermore, 112 flights will be delayed by up to one hour.
As a result, the total number of flights cancelled due to the incident has reached 136. The date for the aircraft’s return to service will be announced once it is confirmed.
Since the impact of accumulated snow on part of the airframe is being considered, preventive measures have already been implemented for the aircraft while it is parked.
